Sometimes you’re not being chosen. You’re just making someone’s life easier.
You’re available when they call. You listen when they need to vent. You forgive without requiring change. You rearrange your schedule, lower your expectations, and keep giving them another chance. And because they keep coming back, you assume that means they love you.
But returning to someone is not the same as choosing them. People return to what is familiar. They return to what is comfortable. They return to people who make few demands and offer endless grace.
Commitment looks different. Commitment says: I am willing to inconvenience myself to build something with you. It requires sacrifice, accountability, consistency, and consideration. It means your needs matter even when meeting them isn't easy. Pay attention to what happens when loving you requires effort.
Do they adjust—or make excuses? Do they compromise—or expect you to? Do they make room for you—or only invite you into the spaces left over?
A relationship shouldn't require you to become increasingly convenient in order to remain lovable. Don't measure love by how often someone comes back. Measure it by what they're willing to do to stay.
