Anxiety loves uncertainty. It lives in the what ifs.
What if the relationship ends?
What if I make the wrong decision?
What if I leave and regret it?
What if I stay and waste more years?
What if I fail?
What if I have to start over?
So we think. And rethink. And analyze. And replay every possible outcome—believing that if we think long enough, certainty will eventually appear.
Usually, it doesn’t. Sometimes the thing that quiets anxiety isn’t another conversation, another opinion, or another night spent overthinking.
It’s action. Make the appointment. Ask the difficult question.Set the boundary. Have the conversation. Apply for the opportunity. Make the plan. Take the first step.
You don’t have to know exactly how the story ends before you begin moving.
Because action gives you something anxiety rarely does: information.
Once you move, you learn. Once you learn, you adjust. And once you realize you can handle the next step, the unknown starts to feel a little less powerful.
You may not be able to control the outcome. But you can control whether fear keeps you standing still.
Sometimes courage isn’t feeling fearless. It’s deciding that fear doesn’t get to make the decision.
